We have had the honor to receive a greeting from the president of the republic of Finland, Sauli Niinistö. He wanted to acknowledge our 100th anniversary celebrations.
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF FINLAND
One hundred years ago, independent Finland founded the Lapua factory to meet the wartime ammunition needs of the Defence Forces. Since its founding, the factory has made a strong contribution to Finland’s security of supply. Naturally, production was particularly high during the war. Our neighbour, indeed, also tried to bomb the factory – without success.
Nammo Lapua’s products have not only supported the capabilities of our own Defence Forces. Even now, the company’s ammunition is being used in Ukraine, where a nation is fighting for its freedom. We must be prepared for the fact that the war may continue for a long time yet. Therefore, we must be able to provide assistance for as long as necessary.
Everything possible must now be done to increase production. Thanks are due to the company for looking to the future and investing in, for example, new case lines. In addition, our path as a member of NATO may open up new opportunities for Nammo Lapua in the future.
Today, Lapua cartridges are known as the world’s finest quality cartridges, used by sharpshooters, hunters and sports competitors. The factory’s flagship product, the legendary .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge, is used by authorities around the world.
The cartridge industry as a whole is rooted in South Ostrobothnia. It is said that an Ostrobothnian quality is lack of humility and modesty. That certainly comes in useful when you only have guaranteed quality to sell.
I would like to thank all the employees of Nammo Lapua for the work you do for national defence. And I wish you the most wonderful anniversary and success in the future.
