The Lapua Hunt App has been updated! The update introduces a vast number of new features, such as a free basic version of the map and various new view options.
New App features listed below!
Set wind direction
The calculator view now has a new function to search for the wind direction from the nearest weather station. Other weather parameters are also updated.
The wind direction can be set so that it considers which way the hunter’s barrel is facing. The correct direction can be set by pointing the mobile phone in the desired direction when editing the direction.
The compass icon in the upper banner shows the current direction setting based of the last edit. The wind direction shown in the upper right corner of the calculator is automatically corrected according to the hunter’s barrel direction.
New Point-Blank Range view
You can choose the chart area of the PBR view:
Metric: 5cm, 10cm, 20cm
Imperial: 2 Inch, 4 Inch, 8 Inch
The PBR y-axis is locked to +/-15cm and can be seen as a grayer shade in the table. The flight trajectory is modelled until it hits -15 cm.
Sun / Moon view
The app calculates sunrise and sunset times, the moon phase, moonrise and moonset times.
The view is updated every time the user opens it. The data is based on the user’s location information and the local time from the device’s calendar. Error margins are roughly 3 min (sun) and 15 min (moon).
New free-of-charge map
The basic map view is available for all users free of charge. The terrain map limited amount of ballistics information. The map view shows the shooting distance set by the user, as well as the user’s own location.
Additional map features can be found in the Pro Hunter version – see the description for details
New calibers and choosing the Lapua bullet
New calibers are added to the end of the list. The Lapua bullet selection is filtered by caliber, just like cartridges. New calibers include 7 mm Blaser Mag, .338 Blaser Mag, and 7 mm – 08 Rem.
Bullets and/or cartridges are not available for all calibers. In that case, the only option is to buy a “Custom Bullet”.
