Team Lapua’s Nancy Tompkins Takes First for NRA State Championship

Team Lapua’s Nancy Tompkins showcased her precision shooting skills by taking first place at the Arizona State Conventional Prone Tournament NRA State Championship Match. The competition, held at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility on March 29–30, brought together top marksmen from across the state, and Tompkins outperformed them all with a grand aggregate score of 3167-199, securing victory for Team Lapua.

Tompkins' dedication to preparation played a key role in her success. Prior to the championship, she fine-tuned her ammunition at the Lapua Rimfire Performance Center, ensuring peak consistency and performance when it mattered most. “The right ammunition can make all the difference in competitive shooting,” said Tompkins. “Thanks to Lapua’s precision engineering, I had the confidence to perform at my best throughout the match.”

At the Lapua Rimfire Performance Center, Tompkins tested various lots of Lapua .22LR ammunition at both 50 and 100 meters, identifying the best-performing batch for her rifle. This specialized service, available to all competitive shooters, helps optimize accuracy and consistency—key factors in high-level competition. Shooters can schedule testing appointments at Lapua’s Rimfire Performance Centers in Mesa, AZ, or Marengo, OH, to gain a competitive edge.

Tompkins' latest victory adds to her long list of achievements in precision shooting, reaffirming her status as one of the sport’s most formidable competitors. Her performance at the Arizona State Championship underscores the impact of meticulous preparation, top-tier ammunition, and world-class skill.
